I’m a BIG fan of putting greens in my smoothie, but sometimes I just want a milkshake. Unfortunately, dairy and I do not get along – but this smoothie fulfills my craving and more! Probably because it tastes like I’m having dessert for breakfast. Not only is this smoothie vegan and gluten-free, it also has healthy fat, potassium, and protein to keep you full until lunch.
It’s super easy to make and only has four ingredients (if you include the protein powder).
Another bonus to this smoothie (as if it needed another) is that you can customize it depending on what your body needs nutrient-wise or what you’re craving. Maca powder (natural energy, hormone regulation), flax seeds (one of the richest sources of plant-based Omega-3 fatty acids), and chia seeds (fiber, antioxidants) are all terrific options. Let me know what you come up with in the comments below, I like to try new things!
This smoothie is:
+ A craving buster
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (I like vanilla)
- 1–2 tbsp almond butter*
- 1 banana
- 1 serving of your favorite vegan protein powder
- ice (unless you use a frozen banana)
- 1 tsp maca powder, flax seeds, or chia seeds
- Place all the ingredients into a high-powered blender and blend until smooth.
*Make sure the almond butter you are using contains only almonds. Many store bought brands have added oils, which are completely unnecessary. Double check the ingredients before you buy it.
